Page and Category Creation
There are two simple ways to start a new page.
Using the URL
You can use the wiki's URL for creating a new page. The URL to an article of the wiki is usually something like this:
* http://chow.yettas.com/index.php?title=ARTICLE
If you replace ARTICLE with the name of the page you wish to create, you will be taken to a blank page which indicates that no article of that name exists yet. Clicking the "edit" page tab at the top of the page will take you to the edit page for that article, where you can create the new page by typing your text, and clicking submit. Just be sure to use a semi-unique page name. There will no doubt be alot if "chocolate chip cookie" recipes - so add some 'flare' to your title.
Similarly, you can create a new category:
* http://chow.yettas.com/index.php?title=Category:yournewcategoryname
Note the only difference between an article here is that the word "Category:" is placed before the title.
From the search page
If you search for a page that doesn't exist (using the search box and 'go' button on the left of the page) then you will be provided with a link to create the new page. (Note that this technique doesn't work if you use the 'search' button).
Basics
To avoid spam, I've added several security features, including an email confirmation, manual account approvals, and little math equations here and there.
Creating pages is easy - (see above). You can always hit "edit" on any page if you'd like to see how someone entered their information. For instance.. to create a heading, simply surround a word in 2 'equals' signs:
==This will be a heading==
or, to make a bulleted list, simply add a ' * ' in front of each item. For more tips check out the Help:Editing
To add your recipe to a Category, just add
[[category:categoryname]]
anywhere on the editing page. You can pick one of the Categories listed on the main page, or make one up. Or just ask Pete what to do.
